blah, blah, blah

My closet is jammed pack with clothes but how is it that I constantly deal with having nothing to wear. There is so much still with tags, things that I never know that I might want to wear again, things that might fit again, and so on and so on. I just wasn't in the mood to think about it. If I had another hour to dress, I might have rethought the outfit.

WhoWhatWearDaily has been one of my favorite blog sites for several months now. This past fall, they added WhoWhatWearTV to demonstrate how to wear current trends without looking like a walking fashion faux pas. I'm posting some of my favorite episodes thus far.

Episode 13: Key Fashion Accessories

Episode 12: Spring Fashion Transition

Episode 8: Cute and Corporate (I like the second outfit)

Episode 7: Lazy Sunday

Episode 5: How to Wear Belts

Episode 1: The Burberry Look

uber comfort

The need for comfort took over me today. I wore knit from head to toe. Yes, even the pants are knit. They are like fleece dress slacks. I haven't been wearing them (I also have a black pair) as much this year as last year but I still get all happy when I do. This is the first time I've worn this crested tee (though I bought it last November) too. I don't what I was waiting for. As for the flats, these are the only pair of Steve Madden shoes that I own and like. Based on my gladiator sandal finds, I still might invest in more Steve Madden. I hope I like them as much as I do these flats.

check out leigh & luca

If you've got the dough, then spend it at Leigh & Luca. They are makers of beautiful scarves and because of them, I'm now a lover of scarves for all times of the year. Their oversizes scarves have amazing patterns and motifs. I agree that they are "luxurious wearable art." The greatest thing about their amazing hand-woven scarves is that they will serve you also as shawl, sarong, or travel blanket. I think I need to invest in one.

gentle cycle

There's nothing interesting to say about today's outfit. Two things motivated my choice: 2)wanting to keep warm; and 2) didn't want to think about it too much. I've only worn this top once before. It was purchased at my first Calypso shopping spree. I love that you can throw Calypso's silk items in the wash put it through the gentle cycle. I'm not keen on having to go to the dry cleaners and try to avoid it when possible.

check out iosselliani

I first discovered Ioselliani from a Barneys catalog that I received in the mail. The juxtapositions of old world and modern; of romantic and goth/punk; and elegance and edginess intrigued me. Each piece is made of layers and layers of different textures and materials that can't help but capture your eyes. I hope to include some of this jewelry into my collection.

feeling blue (on the outside)

I was looking at My Style Diary homepage and I noticed a pair of shoes that I posted and completely forgotten. I bought them over 6 weeks ago but they have just been sitting in a box that was in another box. It might have helped if I cleaned up more around here. Anyways, they are by Henry Cuir and it was love at first sight. I was hardly swayed by the hefty pricetag.

Hmmm? Was my dress always this short? I don't remember that. With the extreme weather we had today, it would have been better to be more covered up. Though it was a simple outfit, I wanted my shoes to be the standout of the outfit. I love their play on androgony. Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.

for the love of music- royksopp

I have a sudden urge to post all of my favorite songs but I will restain myself and let you all enjoy the music as it comes.

If you are like me, you've enjoyed the Geico commercials with the cavemen. If it weren't for the commercial with the caveman going through the airport, I probably wouldn't have discovered Royksopp. My first tempation is to post the video for "Remind Me" but I'm sure you've heard the song plenty of times so I will post another favorite.

the concord has arrived

I'm changing the color scheme today with purple and variations of brown. I bought this dress last month but hadn't worn it yet. While in Calypso last week, I saw one of the girls wearing it with a belt and thought it was lovely. I had to copy with my dress in the same style as hers. It turned something that could look a bit immature into something so much more grown-up. I'm loving the belt that I picked up from Barneys and it was perfect for the dress. The rest of the outfit just developed from there.

tights in disguise

Hmmm... I'm not sure about these leggings. While shopping yesterday, I stopped by Wolford and asked for some leggings. Do they look like leggings to you? I think they are more like footless tights in disguise. If my tank chose to ride up at all, you would get a nice view of my panties. Expecting to be uncomfortable in them, I had no accidents and found them to be pretty comfortable. I will wear them a few more times before making a final opinion.

not dressed for the weather

I got up around 9 this morning and went to a new donut shop nearby because I wanted to check out the hype. With just a hoody on, I was cold in the 30something degree weather (to put it mildy). Many hours later, I was finally ready to truly start my day. This time, I was overdressed. The temperature reached 70something degrees. You could say I didn't need the down jacket.

jovovich-hawk for target

If there is anything to get you excited about spring, it has to be the upcoming collection by Jovovich-Hawk for Target... at least for me. Besides gladiator sandals, I have found something to look forward to. On March 2nd, the long awaited collection by Jovovich-Hawk will be available in Target stores and online. Now the masses can get their hands on the hippyish, fun-loving pieces from this fashion super duo.

I have to say... I haven't gotten as excited about a Target Go International Collection as I have for this one. I got a few pieces here and there from the Proenza-Schouler and the Libertine line but the last few designers have left me feeling nothing but blah. Erin Featherston had some cute pieces, but in real life, they were nothing to waste your money on. I'm hoping that it won't be the same with Jovovich-Hawk. Ugh... eight more days and counting. BTW, where can I find the cute boots they paired with most of the outfits?

These three outfits are on "my must check out" list. As mentioned in an earlier post, I want little dresses for spring. I also love the vest/ leggings combination. It's a put together outfit without the fuss.

like, oh my god! it's purple.

The surprise color of the season has been purple (for me). I never wore it. I never liked it. I might be showing my age here, but my initial turn off came from Jen's fascination of purple on "Family Ties." I loved this show growing up and I remember watching an episode that had Jen's ALL PURPLE 13th birthday party. It was a bit much and I have despised the color since. Many years later, I've finally allowed myself to embrace the color and in a big way. I have added quite a bit of purple to my wardrobe this fall/winter season.

Oh, how much I love my Mike & Chris hoodie. Against some skinny pants, I feel like the hoodie just oozes with attitude. The fact that it makes me feel like I look good while hiding all that does not look so good makes it even better.

an assortment of gladiator sandals

Gladiator sandals were huge last year. I found a great deal on a pair by Kenneth Cole and I wore them to death. I can't wait to get a new pair (or two) for the upcoming season. There are so many to chose from and it's not only about the flat pair. There are plenty of heeled gladiator sandals to choose from, too. I have found several at different prices to fit your (my) budget.

working the boots

In my last To Be or Not to Be? post, I was debating if I should get a pair of Frye boots. As you can see, I decided to get them. They were pretty comfortable (for most of the day) and I would have to say that Frye boots are just as good as they are made out to be. The leather is topnotch and the construction is impeccable.

I wasn't feeling too cute in any case but hitting snooze on the alarm didn't give me the luxury to play around with the outfit. I made it to work just in time. After the fact, the dress would have been complemented well with a belt. I did think about it but adding a belt would just hike up the dress a bit and it's already a bit short. Okay... I got it! Next time, I will wear the dress as a tunic and pair it with a belt and leggings. Look out for that outfit in an upcoming post.

birds in paris

This scarf was a good purchase. It's called Birds in Paris and I purchased it from Urban Outfitters.

I'm not sure why I keep wearing all black. I used to wear all black. Then maybe three or four years ago, I started feeling more comfortable in color. Then this past fall, I started to wear all black again. Maybe it makes me feel more chic. I definitely don't believe that black makes you appear thinner (if it does or not). To me, it's more about the shape of the clothes you buy to suit your body type.

spring is in the air- my top 9 must haves

I'm not quite ready for spring. As evidence, I ordered the Frye booties that I posted about earlier. Ready or not, it's coming our way and you can see it in the stores. Stores are stocking up on sandals, shorts, and whatnot. You can't be but a little bit excited about what's in store (even me). I've already started to think about what I want to add to my Warmer Days wardrobe (some of the things include items that I have been wanting and know they will transition well). Here are my top nine items (for now):

I can't get enough of the jewelry offerings from J.Crew. This is only one piece that I want from their current selection.

J.Crew Kaleidoscope $65

I'm all about scarves and shawls. Lightweight scarves are a great accessory for spring. They will brighten up any outfit.

Anthropologie Scattered Breeze Scarf $58

I’ve been wanting a cardigan/ wrap top. They are versatile and create a fabulous drape.

Velvet Sharon Wrap $79

Tank tops are my summer/ spring staple. I love the ones by Vince. The quality and construction is worth the price tag.

Vince Athletic Tank $48

I've been wanting a Burberry trench. At its price point, I will just continue wanting.

Burberry London Poplin Trench Coat $995 (ouch!)

Oh... I'm loving this Spring Prada bag!
Prada Nappa Stripes Multicolor Small Hobo $1675

If you want it to or not, skinny jeans are not going anywhere. They make anyone look FABULOUS! I love the ones by Rich & Skinny. They are uber comfy and lightweight.

Rich & Skinny ACDC Vintage Skinny $158

Little dresses are a must for spring (or any season really). They make your legs appear longer and they are effortless.

Vince Black Dress with Back Zip $220

Gladiator sandals are stronger than ever! Flat or heeled, they will sexify (Do you like that word?) any outfit.

Top Shop Gladiators $71
