corsets are nice

Ooh... I'm feeling so pretty today. I've been dying to wear this dress but I was waiting for this belt to come in the mail. I ordered it awhile back but when it arrived, it was damaged and I had to wait for a new one. The wedges that I purchased yesterday went perfectly with the ensemble. The tan in the belt's pattern went well with the tan of the wedges. I wish you could see the details of the belt... it's so fab!

You can't see it but the dress has a slouchy tank layered over it. I also love the scoopneck... very flattering. It is so soft and comfortable... I felt like I was wearing a nightie. Now, I want the two other colors it comes in, too.

ready for summer

A friend and I got together because it was long overdue. She suggested we go shopping (of course). I didn't have a problem with that because my last Gap purchase wasn't what I had hoped and needed to go back to the store.

While at the Gap, I noticed that they had two styles from the Pierre Hardy collection for Gap (aka Design Editions). I thought they were only going to be available online or in New York. Lucky me, they had the triple strap platforms that I have been craving. Unlucky me, they only had my size in the khaki fabric and I really wanted the brown leather. No problem... another Gap would have it and was just a few minutes drive away. In the meantime, I picked up the double breasted sweater, too. I don't plan to wear it as intended. I like the slouchy affect it has when left open.

On the Fashion Spot, I noticed that someone posted a picture of themselves wearing a pair of alice + olivia for Payless wedges. They were uber cute but I wondered- Do they also look uber cheap? The mall happened to have a Payless so I stopped by. To my surprise, they were as sublime in person as seen on the forum. I had to have them. Funny thing... my friend did, too.

Finally, I knew that Old Navy was having a huge sale. When I went in, I found canvas wedges that I couldn't pass up. I've been admiring other brands with a similar style but at $23.99, I knew these were the ones meant for me. Having difficulty deciding between black or tan/ brown (I don't know which color they are), I just took both. Why not?

Okay, okay... I got a lot of platform wedges. Though similar in style, they are all uniquely different. I love the fact that I will have extra height without extra pain.

And yes, I said I was on a shopping ban (sort of speaking). It's kind of hard for me.

latest obsession- ellen verbeek

I'm obsessed with Ellen Verbeek's Italian made shoes. The playful and girly shoes are so unique to what's available right now. Basic shapes are combined with interesting details that you can't help but want them all. She also makes handbags but I can't keep my eyes off her shoe collection. Starting at $450 a pair, you might want to start your collection slowly.

Mostly available in various parts of Europe, there are a handful of boutiques in the States. One stockist is Lambs Ear Shoes in Seattle, Washington. Though not sold online, you can call the store and they are happy to ship to you. After visiting their site, you will continue to drool over their selection of Chie Mihara, Loeffler Randall, and Marc by Marc Jacobs among many other designers. I wish I was in Seattle.

I want these,

and these,

and these,

and these.

black and white stripes

I'm not really feeling this outfit but I have reached that time of the month where I can't think clearly and nothing looks good.

an assortment of scarves

Scarves are one of my favorite accessories. It all started with my incessant knitting of them. I picked up some knitting needles, yarn, and a how-to book and away I went- knitting scarf, after scarf, after scarf. That year, it was everyone's Christmas gift from me.

I also love pashminas as it can serve as a scarf or a wrap or a shawl. I grab one and I'm good to go. I could post pictures of them but go to a street vendor or an airport stand and you can get a nice one for $10. I will be getting another black one soon while someone else is enjoying the one I left who knows where.

As the weather gets warmer, I still love to accessorize with them. They can take a simple outfit to new levels and keep you warm when the nights get chilly.

My favorite place for scarves is Urban Outfitters because they are fun and best of all- cheap.

animal instincts

I was so happy for the arrival of Friday. It means I can wear jeans to work. It was going to be a big day so I needed to still look put together.

two buy two

Okay... this will be the last of new things (at least for awhile). I had to take advantage of Neiman Marcus's TwoBuyTwo deal. I got a pair of pants, a dress (to be posted later when it arrives), and two clutches. I'm done. No more shopping (for awhile).

this or that?

Balenciaga gladiator sandal

I'm loving the Balenciaga gladiator sandal but I'm not loving the extreme height. I've noticed that a ton of people are loving the Nine West inspired version. I tried them on and the four inch wedge is unbearable.

I have found that Ralph Lauren has also made his own version. With a three inch heel, I'm jumping for joy. Now, it's all about deciding on which color is best. Please help me decide. Should I get brown or tan?

feeling spring

The original idea for today's outfit wasn't working for me. I wanted to wear my new Gap top. Unfortunately, I wasn't liking it as much as when I first tried it on.

I grabbed this top and I was happy with the outcome. I'm happy to have spring back!

for the love of music- young love

In January 2007, Billboard listed Young Love as one of "2007's Best Bets" for the year. Their album was described as "...the kind of pop that we've been missing: melodic, catchy, smart and as young and in love-with the ubiquitous 'she'-as Romeo...". I think I would have to agree. Their music puts me in a good mood. When I'm listening to the CD in the car, you could find me bopping in my seat.

Find a New Way

new things (continued)

Today's shopping experience was much better today than yesterday. I hadn't anticipated so many stores to close for Easter.

From the Gap, I have been eyeing several pieces, but being the bargain hunter that I am, I waited until they were on sale. My timing couldn't have been better. There were tons of markdowns today. Two things that I have wanting came down in price. YAY!

striped roll-sleeve henley originally $44.50 on sale for $22.99

wide stripe shawl cardigan originally $59.50 on sale for $39.99

On my shopping agenda, I was determined to find some new shoes. Lucky me found two pairs. I saw these slingback heels with cutout details along the side and they were whispering to me (in a seductive tone), "You want me," and I did want them. Though they have a four inch heel, they are very comfortable. I guess it all depends on the quality of the shoes. I also wanted a pair of gladiator sandals. Though I never paid any mind to a pair by Sam Edelman while doing my gladiator sandal research, I decided to try on a pair. To my surprise, they were perfect. I have been looking for the wrong style this whole time.

Latitude Femme "Lea" $200

Sam Edelman "Gilda" $85

I don't know how but this pretty, pink lip gloss by Laura Mercier stopped me in my tracks (while I was gone on my family visit) as my brother, his girlfriend, and I passed by the Nordstrom counter. I knew I had to purchase it the next time I was at the mall. I didn't expect it to be two days later.

Laura Mercier lip glace in bonbon $22

My other shopping mission was to buy my Hubby his birthday gift. It's coming close- April 3rd. It's not a lot of fun to buy him things. He never seems to appreciate it. I've noticed that he prefers to be a part of the shopping experience. Shoes from Adidas would be the perfect gift. We always walk into the store but usually leave empty-handed. He found a pair of shoes he liked but, to our dismay, they didn't have his size. I'm glad to report that I did find them online for almost half the price and will be ordering them for him. We didn't leave empty-handed though. I noticed an olive windbreaker with teal stripes along the shoulder and arms. He liked it too so I bought it. I'm so glad that his gift has been figured out.

Adidas Strider lo $120 (but I found them online for $70)

Adidas L-Windbreaker $80

new things from urban outfitters

This past week, I stopped by Urban Outfitters and I left with more than I anticipated. You could say it was a good shopping trip.

I haven't always been a fan of UO but I'm becoming one now. I have bought more things from UO in the last four months than I have in the last decade (or longer).

UO Villanelle Dress: I love the double layering, slight bubble hem, and slouchiness of the dress.

BDG 5 pocket skinny jeans: As many designer jeans as I have, I just wanted a cheap pair. Being a fourth of the cost of most of my jeans, even if I get a few wears from it, I got my money's worth.

woven rope belt: I just liked it. I'm going crazy for belts.

Ikat printed scarf: I saw this featured in a WhoWhatWearDaily post and it's just as amazing in person as it is in a picture. It has a great tribal print and is very soft.
